Falkor the Luck Dragon by fairyspit-dolls Falkor the Luck Dragon by fairyspit-dolls
Falkor the Luck Dragon is a needle felted art doll I created over a period of three weeks. He is made of merino/silk felted over a strong wire armature.

His fur is mulberry silk that was hand rooted in tiny sections. His eyes are acrylic and his claws were sculpted of paperclay, painted with acrylics and finished with a satin varnish.

His scales are glass seed beads, iridescent glass beads and natural New Zealand shell beads that were individually sewn in.

Falkor took me anywhere from 70-90 hours to complete.

Watch him come to life in his work in progress post on my blog fantasyfelt.blogspot.com

aaaaw childhood memories.... it is interesting to learn that he is called Falkor in English. In the german original he is called Fuchur (which is admittedy unpronounceable for english speakers *g*)
There is a huge model of him in the Bavaria Film studios where most of the movie was shot. Children are allowed to ride him and you can see yourself flying on him over a wood on a big screen. I still remember doing that when I was in primary school.

Great work! It brought back a lot of nice memories!

OMG Falkor!! :iconeeeeeplz:

So absolutely perfect!! All the details are spot-on (his face - marvelous!) and the silk you used looks sparkly and magical! He's gorgeous and I love all the beadwork you've done on him, really an excellent finishing touch! :worship:

Looks excellent.

And OMFG I was just thinking about the NeverEnding Story today. It was dumping rain outside, all dark like .... and for some reason I remembered that kid who read the book while it was raining outside :)

It's a sign, it's a sign ! lol :D
